I am concerned about a fire hazard on someone else’s property. What should I do?

The Tasmania Fire Service recommends the following approach where there is a fire hazard on someone else’s property:

  1. Contact the landowner or occupier where the fire hazard is located to discuss your concerns. The landowner or occupier may not be aware of the hazard or may already have plans in place to remove the hazard.
  2. If you are unsuccessful in contacting the landowner or occupier, or are unable to resolve your concerns, contact the Council to report a fire hazard. Council will assess whether the potential fire hazard is a fire risk.
  3. If you have been unsuccessful in resolving your concerns through the Council, you may report the fire hazard to the Tasmania Fire Service following the steps on the following page:
